Colby Saltz
A 25-year-old Henderson County school employee who most recently was working as a teacher assistant at East Henderson High School was arrested Wednesday and charged with statutory sex offense with a child and sex act with a student, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the school system central office said Friday.
A Special Investigations Unit of the sheriff's office initiated an investigation Wednesday involving allegations of an inappropriate sexual relationship between the teacher assistant and student, the sheriff's said. As a result of the investigation, Colby William Saltz, 25, was arrested and charged with the two offenses.
Saltz was taken into custody without incident on Friday and jailed without bond at the Henderson County Detention Center. School officials fired the employee the same day they were made aware of the charges.
The school system released the following statement on the arrest of Saltz:
“On Wednesday, June 17, 2026 Henderson County Public Schools administration was informed about an allegation of inappropriate conduct by a school employee involving a student. The district immediately cooperated with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and provided assistance throughout the investigation. Later the same day, district officials were informed that the employee, Colby Saltz, would face criminal charges connected to the allegation. His employment with the district was terminated immediately. Mr. Saltz began his employment with Henderson County Public Schools in August 2024, most recently working as a teacher assistant at East Henderson High School.
"The alleged conduct is deeply concerning, unacceptable and completely inconsistent with the standards, values, and expectations of Henderson County Public Schools. We remain committed to supporting law enforcement and will continue to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
"Because this is an active investigation and because federal student privacy laws prohibit the release of information that could identify a student, the district cannot provide additional details. Our focus remains on the safety, well-being, and education of our students, and we remain committed to maintaining a secure learning environment for every child entrusted to our care.”
