Register of Deeds forum set for Thursday

Organizations are holding one campaign forum this week and two next week ahead of the May 6 primary election.


The Republican Party will sponsor its third candidate forum on Thursday, April 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Opportunity House. This week's forum includes Register of Deeds candidates Shannon Baldwin, Evona Kilpatrick and Lee King and NC House District 117 candidates Ronnie Edwards and Rep. Chuck McGrady.
The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce will host a Board of Commissioners candidate forum at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at the Chamber headquarters at 204 Kanuga Road. To RSVP call the chamber at 692-1413.
Candidates are District 1: Hogan Corn, J. Michael Edney, Andrew Riddle; District 3: William G. Lapsley, Larry R. Young; and District 4: Tim Griffin, Tommy Thompson.
ECO, the Environmental and Conservation Organization, will host a candidate forum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the City Operations Center.
The forum will include the candidates for the Board of Commissioners and House District 117. A meet and greet will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
County Commission candidates will speak and answer questions on issues affecting the environment from 7 to 8 p.m. State House candidates will speak from 8 to 9 p.m.
Early voting starts April 24 at the Henderson County Board of Elections and at Edneyville, Etowah, Flat Rock and Fletcher.
