Miller on Senate run: 'Hell no'

There's one thing Jeff Miller wants voters to know about the political season.

"Everybody keeps asking me if I'm going to run for Apodaca's Senate seat," he said as soon as he reached the platform to speak on HonorAir during today's Business Morning Update meeting.  "I'd like to make this formal. Hell no. I hope that travels around.

"I respect Rep. McGrady and Sen. Apodaca and the people that are making that drive," he added. "I hate that drive. My son in lives there now and I want him to get another job."

Miller was the 2010 Republican nominee for the 11th Congressional District seat and is now a Hendersonville City Council member. He also happens to be one of Apodaca's closest confidants in Hendersonville. So when Apodaca announced last week that he was retiring from the Senate, the political chatter focused on Miller.

Without making an endorsement outright, Miller praised Republican Chuck Edwards, the McDonald's franchisee who filed for the seat on opening day of filing.

"I thought that we're very fortunate to have someone like that that's willing to step up," he said. "I don't know who else will run."

He knows for sure at least one who won't.
