Sheriff holding town hall in Edneyville on Thursday

EDNEYVILLE — Sheriff Charlie McDonald will host a town hall at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Edneyville Community Center for residents of Edneyville, Bat Cave and Gerton.

The Henderson County Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Sheriff's Office to bring important information to Edneyville and the northeastern portions of Henderson County.

“These community meetings give residents the opportunity to learn, ask questions and get to know the men and women who make up their Sheriff’s Office,” McDonald said in a news release. “We provide residents with information and tools that will help them contribute to their own safety. By going into different areas of the county, we are able to focus in on those specific areas’ crime statistics and concerns.”

People will have the opportunity to meet the sheriff and other sheriff's office personnel and ask questions. Other meetings are:

Etowah/Horseshoe Town Hall
Tuesday, April 25th from 6-8pm
Etowah Lions Club Building – 447 Etowah School Rd.

Green River/Tuxedo/Zirconia Town Hall
Tuesday, May 16th from 6-8pm
Green River Fire Department – 1524 Old US Hwy 25

Crab Creek Town Hall
Tuesday, May 23rd from 6-8pm
Crab Creek Community Center – 53 Jeter Mountain Rd

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will also be offering a pill collection event this weekend. The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Walmart at Highlands Square. Medications can be brought to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office lobby every Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This Walmart collection event is a great opportunity for those residents who are not available during weekday drop off hours.
