Five candidates have filed for Mills River council

A lively race could be shaping up in Mills River as three challengers have joined the two incumbents up for re-election this year. Roger Snyder and Wayne Carland, the last remaining council members who were on the town's original governing board when it incorporated in 2003, filed on the first day of filing. Challengers Randy Austin, John E. Case and Mark V. Case have also filed for the town board. Mills River voters two years ago showed that they were open to change, ousting incumbents Larry Freeman and Billy Johnston and electing Brian Caskey and Richmond Meadows.
