Campaign finance reports show that candidates in Flat Rock and Hendersonville have raised thousands of dollars, a significant uptick for municipal elections in Henderson County, which more commonly involve no spending at all.
In a hard-fought competitive race for control of the Flat Rock Village Council, the candidates and a political action committee had raised a total of $18,690 by the campaign finance deadline of Sept. 24.
Three Hendersonville candidates raised a total of $10,691. Fletcher Town Council candidate Fletcher Town Council candidate Preston Blakely, who faces incumbent Hugh Clark in the Nov. 5 general election, raised $1,347.
