Saluda's Shop & Stroll celebrates art galleries

Saluda's Shop and Stroll on Friday this week will celebrate the grand opening of Saluda Moon Glass Studio & Gallery and the second anniversary celebration of Jim Carson Studio/Gallery. Shop and Stroll takes place on the first Friday of each month from 5 to 8 p.m. through October.

Saluda Moon Glass Studio & Gallery at 24 W. Main St. will have a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. followed by an open house. Susan Cannon, owner of Saluda’s newest gallery, specializes in kiln formed fused glass. The gallery features functional items such as bowls and plates and wall art pieces for home or office decor. Cannon says her style is at times whimsical but can also be abstract or expressionistic.

Jim Carson, who has won numerous national awards for his plein air paintings, will celebrate the anniversary of his gallery opening at 20 W. Main St., Suite 2, from 5 to 8 pm. Carson’s gallery opened in the middle of the pandemic in June 2020 so there was never a grand opening. The gallery has many of the artist’s oil paintings of various sizes of landscapes, mountainscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, interiors and still life. Refreshments will be served at the anniversary party.

Art lovers will enjoy an evening stroll through downtown Saluda featuring local art, shopping, great food and live music. Event-goers can expect local restaurants, boutiques and galleries to offer extended evening hours.
