The Carolina Concert Choir is ushering in the new season with a new look. Created by Allison Development Group, the new logo and brand was designed to convey a more contemporary image while promoting awareness of the choir's long history of exceptional vocal performance and professional presentation.
"We are excited to reveal our new logo," said Judy Meinzer, president of the choir's board of directors. "We all feel that it reflects the growth and future of the Carolina Concert Choir."
In existence for the past 36 years and under the direction of Lawrence Doebler, director of choral activities Ithaca College School of Music (1978-2013), since 2013, the choir felt like it was the right time for a change.
"Professor Doebler has really elevated our style and presentation; it was time to do the same with our brand," said Meinzer.
The choir, comprised of rich and diverse auditioned voices from Hendersonville, Asheville, and Upstate South Carolina, performs two concerts annually – a Christmas and spring performance. The Christmas concert will feature J. S. Bach's glorious Magnificat and will include orchestra as well as carols and motets depicting the Christmas story. April's concert is titled 'Music's Reflection of the Civil War and Resurrection'. The music is by Vaughan Williams and text by Walt Whitman. Spirituals will also be woven into the drama. All performances will be held in the Bo Thomas Auditorium on the campus of Blue Ridge Community College.
