Ribs are out in Two Guys rebranding as Peace Pizza

Melody and John Crawford, owners and proprietors of Two Guys Pizza and Ribs, are taking their restaurant to a whole new level under the new name Peace Pizza.

The new fare will be very similar to the food we all know and love, but the ribs and the meat are out, and earth-friendly ingredients are in. The couple decided to live their truth and values, and they have recreated a space that is kind to animals, humans, and the planet.

“We’ve been thinking about making this change for a few years now, and decided to go for it when we realized that the devastation of the pandemic is actually a perfect opportunity to help make the world a better place," the couple said in a news release. "We know you don’t have to give up anything when you give up meat. There are so many incredible plant-based, planet-friendly alternatives these days that there’s absolutely no reason not to make this switch.”

The couple finally decided to embark on the mission after their son Christian watched the new documentary Seaspiracy and called his parents to talk about how to fight climate change with food. John and Melody watched Seaspiracy along with The Game Changers, also available on Netflix.

“After speaking to Christian we immediately decided to take shrimp off the menu, and that motivated us to keep going, so we’re moving to a mostly vegan menu that will be insanely gratifying and wholly more ethical. We’ve made the connection and we’re never going back!”

The new concept, Peace Pizza, will open on May 5 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., then will continue to be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays with different daily specials.

Melody and John estimate that over the years their business has served up approximately 300,000 chickens and 10,000 pigs. They plan on steering into their newfound direction by not only making the change at Peace Pizza but also visiting animal sanctuaries and continuing to educate themselves on the devastating effects of animal agriculture on the planet in terms of water usage, pollution, deforestation, abuse, and pandemics such as Covid.

“We believe you’re not giving up anything by making the world a better place," they said. "We are entering a world where food is more interesting, varied, and delicious. Our food isn’t just for vegetarians and vegans, but for anyone that loves and celebrates food. Together we can make the world a better place for everyone! LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE.”

Their personal reasons for embracing a vegan diet, they said, are threefold. Their compassion for animals, their desire for better health, and their aim to be more environmentally responsible. They’re striving to be a platform and leader, to inspire and encourage everyone to join their journey into a better, healthier, kinder world.

Indoor seating will be at 50 percent capacity with plenty of outdoor seating available. For more information on the grand opening, menu, etc. follow Melody and John on Facebook at 2guyspizza828 and Instagram at 2guyspizza.
