FLAT ROCK — The Village of Flat Rock will hold its semi-annual Shred Event for its residents, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 8. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will also be on site for its Take Back Drug program.
For efficiency and safety, those bringing items for shredding will remain in their cars as they drive to and from the shred truck, which will be located on Village Center Drive behind Village Hall. Participants can bring up to three cardboard boxes worth of documents. No notebooks or black binder clips can be put in the shredder, but staple and small paper clips are acceptable.
The Sheriff’s Office will accept pills, ointments, vitamins, liquids in their original containers, patches and inhalers. They cannot accept chemotherapy drugs or sharps/needles/epi-pens.
The Village Council has expanded the Shred Event to three hours to ease traffic and provide more opportunity to Flat Rock residents. People are asked to refrain from coming early and lining up, as it prevents the shred truck from being able to access the site easily. Check the Village of Flat Rock website for any schedule changes due to extreme weather conditions.
