City seeks volunteers to serve on advisory boards (2)

The city of Hendersonville has openings on numerous advisory boards and committees and is looking for community-minded residents to get involved with their local government.

“These boards are designed to give the public a voice in their government,” Hendersonville Mayor Barbara Volk said. “The input our boards provide to City Council helps us make informed decisions and shapes the quality of life for our residents.”

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, to allow City Council to consider vacancies at its June 2 council meeting. Some advisory boards are made up of both city and county residents. Information regarding residency and appointment requirements is available on the city’s website.

Below are current and upcoming vacancies for the June 2022 appointment cycle:

ABC Board
Animal Services Advisory Committee
Board of Adjustment
Business Advisory Committee
Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee
Downtown Advisory Board
Environmental Sustainability Board
Historic Preservation Commission
Planning Board
Tourism Development Authority

The city may also create a Stormwater Advisory Committee. The City Council is soliciting applicants to gauge interest in the formation of the advisory committee. All interested parties are encouraged to apply.
