Collis announces campaign for third term

Jeff Collis, a two-term council member and currently mayor pro tem, announced his plans to seek re-election to the Hendersonville City Council in November.

He cited numerous achievements over the past eight years and said he'd like to continue serving to see through the building of the new Sugarloaf Road fire station, Berkeley Park improvements and economic development.

Here is the press release:

After encouragement from supporters and my family, it is with great excitement that I announce my intent to seek re-election to Hendersonville City Council this year. It has been an honor to serve the residents of my home town for the last 8 years and I look forward to continuing to serve. The opportunity to be part of the City of Hendersonville's history, along with all the friendships made in the process, is very humbling.

I would love to take credit for all the accomplishments that have been done within the city during my two terms, but nothing is an individual effort. I have been blessed to serve alongside some great people and what I consider the finest city staff in North Carolina. I am very proud to have been part of the team and look forward this November to continuing my service for the next four years.

A portion of the major accomplishments during the last 8 years include, the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, the Parks and Green space Master Plan, the remodel and upgrade of the Hendersonville Water Plant, the new Main Street Director and Committee positions, and the Main Street Infrastructure Upgrade. One of the items I am most proud of is our stewardship of the Hendersonville Residents Tax dollars. We have weathered the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and the City of Hendersonville is in great financial shape. I am proud that I have not voted for one Tax Increase in 7 years and we have maintained excellent city services.

Even with all these major accomplishments, we still have challenges ahead. Responsible stewardship of the tax dollars will continue to be my first priority if re-elected. In the next four years we will be tasked with construction of Hendersonville Fire Station No 2, Berkeley Park upgrades, several major sewer projects, and the future boost in development that we already see on the horizon. I look forward to working with staff, residents, and businesses to ensure Hendersonville remains the wonderful place we call home.

Thank you for allowing me to serve and I look forward to seeing everyone on the campaign trail. A more public announcement will follow in the spring.
