The Henderson County Honor Guard, local DAR chapters, Junior ROTC units, Disable American Veterans, Patriot Guard, American Legion Riders and other veterans' groups will gather at 11 a.m. Monday for the traditional Memorial Day tribute to those who "gave their tomorrows for our todays."
The service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 538 Tracy Grove Road, will include the Army JROTC unit from West Henderson High School and the Air Force JROTC unit from North Henderson High School. Emcee is Shuford Edmisten, DAV Chapter 14 treasurer. The program includes an invocation, the national anthem performed by Calintha "Cali" McClintic, Pledge of Allegiance, a flag folding, a special presentation, keynote remarks and wreath in memory of and honoring those who served in and those who gave all in World World I and WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Beirut, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. The service will close with a salute to all veterans, benediction by Dennis Lefebvre and "God Bless America" by McClintic. Sponsors include Hot Dog World, Ingles, Walmart, Vic and Tammy Selvig and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
