FLAT ROCK — The Flat Rock Playhouse has named an experienced executive with extensive fundraising experience as managing director in charge of key business functions including finance, marketing, development, facilities and new strategic ventures, Joe Ippolito, president of the theater's Board of Trustees, announced Friday.
Robert “Lex” Green III, who started last week as the "newest Vagabond" on the Rock, will partner with Artistic Director Lisa K. Bryant to lead the Playhouse.
"Lisa will continue to bring her brilliance to all artistic and educational programming," Ippolito said, adding the board was thrilled to combine a "pre-eminent business leader in Lex with a highly accomplished artistic director in Lisa to further elevate every area of FRP and help ensure a healthy long-term future."
Green served most recently as president of Brevard-based Pisgah Health Foundation, where he developed a collaboration with Blue Zones, a national health advocate and launched the world’s 50th Blue Zones Project in Brevard. The project served more than 10,000 individuals in its first two years.
Prior to his service at Pisgah Health Foundation, Green was a Mission Health System regional Director of Philanthropy, spearheading successful multimillion-dollar campaigns. In his home state of Florida, he served as lead staff member for the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce, recruiting new industry, film projects and tourism. A Certified Public Accountant, Green ran his own accounting firm before moving to Western North Carolina in 2013. In addition, he is a musician and has a lifelong love of the arts. Lex and his wife, Bonnie, live in Brevard and have three grown children, a daughter and two sons.
"As Lisa shared with the staff, Lex brings a huge open heart, a brilliant mind and a legacy of executive successes that he is eager to deploy on behalf of Flat Rock Playhouse," Ippolito said. "Lisa and Lex are already developing a great partnership. In fact, I’ve never seen two managers bond so quickly. They will be a great team. They have the full support of the Flat Rock Playhouse Board."
