Fire results in accidental death

FLETCHER — An 83-year-old man died Wednesday of accidental burns he suffered while working outside his home at 145 Vernon Lewis Trail, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The department's Arson Task Force was called to assist the Henderson County fire marshal and Fletcher Fire & Rescue in a fire investigation that resulted in the fatality. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim, Richard Carl Lindsey, of Hendersonville, died of accidental burns he suffered while working on the exterior of the residence, the news release said. The investigation is currently ongoing and no foul play is expected.
