A site plan submitted to the city provides details of a proposed multifamily project of a 207-unit apartment complex on Greenville Highway south of Publix.
Matthew Benak of Crest Residential LLC, the applicant, and property owner South Market LLC are seeking a change from the current Planned Commercial Development zoning to Urban Residential Conditional Zoning District for the project on nine acres of flat vacant land on Greenville Highway across from the Dollar Tree shopping center.
The site plan filed with city planners by the Birmingham, Alabama-based developer shows an L-shaped building and a second building — both four stories — and a total of 300 parking spaces. Density would be 23 units per acre. The two four-story buildings would contain 116 one-bedroom, 80 two-bedroom and 11 three-bedroom units. Thirty percent of the site would remain open space. Amenities shown on the plan include a pool, club, business center, walking trail, dog park, pet spa, carwash bay and mailroom.
The three parcels that make up the nine-acre site are valued on the tax books at $2.5 million. City planners will hold a neighborhood compatibility meeting on the project at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the City Operations Center, 305 Williams St.
