Safelight reopens renovated thrift shop

Safelight received multiple grants and donations from supporters to complete a renovation of its Fifth Avenue West Resale Store after major water damage.

“We have wrapped up renovation of the Safelight Resale Store, which was triggered from serious water damage to the ceiling and floor,” Executive Director Lauren Wilkie said. “The redesign has allowed for larger sales floor space and a brighter atmosphere for shopping. The renovation looks incredible, we are excited to show them to the community.”

“Funding and support for the renovation of Safelight’s Shelter has allowed us to redesign and update our shelter kitchen, dining, dorms, offices, lobby, and add onsite kennels for residents’ dogs and cats fleeing violence,” Wilkie added. “The renovations for our Shelter has helped us expand services, increase safety and better support survivors

Safelight thanked those who helped with the project, including the American Kennel Club, Cannon Foundation, Community Foundation of Henderson County and its Perry N. Rudnick and Heart of Charitable Giving Partners, Goodwill Industries, James H. Cummings Foundation, Office for Victims of Crime Emergency and Transitional Pet Shelter and Housing Assistance Program, Purina Purple Leash Project, Safe Place for Pets with RedRover and private donors and supporters.
