Detectives charge pair with 16 felonies in connection with arson case

Arson investigators following up on the fire last Thursday at SmartShop Self Storage at 1931 Spartanburg Highway have charged a man and woman with 16 felonies each in connection with the blaze, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said.

After the fire, sheriff's office detectives began investigating multiple storage unit break-ins and items taken. 1perpMartin AlfaroDuring the investigation, they executed multiple search warrants and interviewed suspects and victims. As a result, several truckloads of property were recovered and the owner identified. Detectives charged Rebecca Lynn Luna and Martin Alfaro, both of Hendersonville, with four felony counts each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

Previously jailed at the Henderson County Detention Center on unrelated charges, Luna remained under a combined bond of $675,000. Alfaro was jailed under a $50,000 bond. Anyone that has been a victim of the break-ins at the storage facility was urged to contact Cpl. Dale Williams at 828-694-2789 by April 30.
