Move over Woodstock: RootStock is coming to town.
The first RootStock Festival is coming to the meadow at Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards the weekend of May 30-June 1. The three day, family-friendly festival is all local — local bands, local technicians, local businesses and vendors, local beer, local food trucks and, of course, truly local wine. The festival will feature 10 bands. Festival hours are 4:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. Here's the bands:
On-site food trucks include Mountain Man BBQ, Heidi Ho on the Go and Travlin’ Dough Pizza Truck. Kids will be able to enjoy a kid zone curated by Hendersonville Toy Company. Wellness Warriors & Wisdom will also be on site offering chair massages to festival attendees.
The festival will be held in the meadow beyond the vines behind the Saint Paul tasting room. In the event of rain, the festival will be moved to the wine production facility, which is also on site. Festival goers will be able to enjoy the music while sipping on Saint Paul wines, Appalachian Ridge Artisan hard ciders and local beers, as well as a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.
RootStock is the brainchild of Saint Paul owner Alan Ward, who hatched the idea after hearing of musicians’ struggles in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Musicians lost income in the aftermath of the storm and some venues no longer exist.
Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, a long-time local music venue in Hendersonville, is putting on the festival with the idea of bringing the community together and celebrating the local musicians and businesses that make the town special.
Saint Paul has partnered with Izzi Hughes, owner of Hummingbird Entertainment LLC, to assist in music booking, festival logistics and marketing and stage managing/emceeing the event.
“Saint Paul holds a very special place in my heart. They were the first venue to book me for a paid show at 14-years-old," Izzi says. "They have always been incredibly supportive of local music in Hendersonville, and it’s my honor to partner with them all these years later on this festival that is showcasing our local talent."
RootStock Festival is sponsored by Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, in partnership with Hummingbird Entertainment and media sponsor, WTZQ Radio.
