I-26 to be closed at night as contractor finishes final tasks

Final punch list tasks are underway on Interstate 26 in Henderson County forcing overnight closures during the next several weeks, the NCDOT announced. Contract crews will close sections of the interstate overnight between specific exits while that work is finished.

This week, crews will focus on final grinding in select areas and finalizing the weigh-in-motion in specific spots. Permanent striping on the interstate will begin next week. Others tasks such as installing snow-plowable markers, adding rumble strips and finishing of signs will take place as well.

Closures will primarily occur Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Locations will vary nightly throughout Henderson County. For detailed closure information, visit www.DriveNC.gov. Updates will also be shared on NCDOT’s social media channels. Most detours will use U.S. 25 as the alternate route for trucks and passenger vehicles during the closures.
