Crimes Against Children unit busts 33-year-old man

Henderson County sheriff's deputies charged a 33-year-old man with four counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor on Wednesday after executing a search warrant at a home in the Flat Rock community.

The sheriff's office's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation executed the search warrant and arrested Brandan Charles Hyatt. Following his arrest, Hyatt appeared before a magistrate who issued a secured bond at $50,000.  
 
Under North Carolina law person commits the offense of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor if, knowing the character or content of the material, he possesses material that contains a visual representation of a minor engaging in sexual activity or that has been created, adapted, or modified to appear that an identifiable minor is engaging in sexual activity.
 
The Henderson County ICAC Task Force is a newly formed task force made up of detectives from the Sheriff’s Office  and Hendersonville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. Law officers encouraged anyone with additional information about the case to contact the sheriff's office or use the “submit a tip” feature available on its mobile app.
