City invites homeowners to apply for repair grant

The city of Hendersonville is accepting applications from eligible homeowners for critical home repair and accessibility improvements through the North Carolina Neighborhood Revitalization Program.
Funded by a grant from the N.C. Department of Commerce, the program will assist qualifying households in making essential repairs to address threats to health or safety or to install accessibility modifications that help prevent displacement.
To qualify, applicants must:
  • Own and occupy a home within Hendersonville city limits and carry no more than a first mortgage
  • Meet income requirements (earning less than 80 percent of the area median income)
  • Have repair needs not covered by other assistance programs
Priority is given to households with elderly or disabled members, veterans, large families and those with extremely low incomes. Assistance is provided as a forgivable, interest-free loan, with all construction performed by licensed professionals.
Interested residents should contact Home Repair Coordinator Stefanie Kompathoum at 828-692-4744 ext. 107, or stefanie@housing-assistance.com for more information or to begin the application process.
