North Carolina Department of Transportation contract crews are extending a lane closure on Interstate 26 West into next week, weather permitting.
The left lane will remain closed on I-26 West between mile markers 55 and 56 from 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, according to the DOT.
The closure allows the contractor to safely work on the westbound Saluda approach to remove the portable concrete barrier wall, mill the roadway’s shoulder to conform the pavement to its final layout and install guardrail.
Transportation officials remind drivers to slow down, obey all posted signs and remain alert while driving in this work zone.
