Jeff Michels trio to perform benefit concert for Conserving Carolina

Steve Kirkland, Jeff Michels and Sam Barker will perform Oct. 23 at Flat Rock Cinema.

Jeff Michels and his folkadelic jam will perform a benefit concert for Conserving Carolina at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Flat Rock Cinema.

Michels began songwriting as soon as he strummed his first guitar at age 16 and hasn’t stopped. His tune “Waiting For The Wheels” about the now open Ecusta Trail was written 10 years ago. With influences as diverse as the Beatles, Dylan, David Bowie and Neil Young, Jeff’s brew of socially conscious folk rock originals and deep-cut cover tunes makes for a great listening experience. Performing with Jeff will be Steve Kirkland, guitar, and Sam Barker, bass.

Conserving Carolina has helped protect over 50,000 acres and we are working hard to protect more. At a time of crisis when many plants and animals could go extinct, we are bringing back vital habitat that was lost and we’re connecting vast conservation corridors. At a time when people deeply need more nature in their lives, Conserving Carolina is opening new parks and trails (32 so far), spearheading a 100-plus mile trail network, advancing 50 miles of new rail trails and connecting people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to the great outdoors. At a time when so much of our rural land is being developed, the land trust is working with private landowners to preserve farmland, clean water, wildlife habitat and scenic views.
