The Flat Rock Village Council will sponsor a holiday food drive from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Staton Pavilion in the Park at Flat Rock (55 Highland Golf Drive).
Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted by the Village Council for distribution to Henderson County residents in need by Interfaith Assistance Ministry.
Nonperishable canned items needed include hams, corn, fruit, hominy, yams, cranberry sauce, soup, and pumpkin. Additional items to donate are stuffing mix, corn husk packages, boxed pie crust, and bags of potatoes. (For a complete list, please see Current Pantry Needs online at iam-hc.org/current-needs.)
“The holiday season and colder weather can be especially hard for some of our neighbors,” said council member Emily Whitmire, who is helping organize the event. “This is a chance for all of us to come together, give back, and make sure no one in Flat Rock or our surrounding communities goes without. Every donation, no matter how small, helps fill a table and lift a spirit.”
