Tuesday is a seventh straight snow day for Henderson County school children.
The news comes as some thawing on Monday led Henderson County and the city of Hendersonville to announces that offices would be open Tuesday and road conditions were mostly improved.
Here's the message from Superintendent Mark Garrett:to students, parents, faculty and staff:
"What a difference a day makes! The sun and above-freezing temperatures made a big dent in road conditions over the course of the afternoon. Alas, it was not enough, but we are hoping the trend continues tomorrow with an eye on potentially getting our students back in school as early as Wednesday. Our crews will be out all day checking roads again, so send those positive vibes their way.
"I guess I may have just let the cat out of the bag a little bit there, so I might as well let everyone know that Henderson County Public Schools will operate on a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday. It will be an optional workday for staff. Staff members may report on a two-hour delay and should continue to communicate with their supervisor if travel issues persist.
"Students should refer to their choice boards and assignments that have now been updated. If you have questions or need support, please contact your student’s school on Tuesday.
"We will be in touch again should the additional weather bring additional schedule changes, but let’s all hope that Punxsutawney Phil misses the mark on his prediction earlier today that there will be six more weeks of winter."
