Etowah man charged with taking indecent liberties with girl, 14

Henderson County sheriff’s deputies charged a 34-year-old Etowah man with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child on Thursday after special investigations unit received a report last year regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a minor.

Nelson Ndegwa Maturi was held without bond Friday after he had posted a $100,000 bond earlier in the day. District Court Judge Monica Gillett revoked Maturi's bond based on "a rebuttal presumption against the defendant's release" under state law, court records showed. He is charged with three felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a 14-year-old girl.
