Police shoot knife-wielding suspect

A Hendersonville police officer shot a knife-wielding suspect after responding to a 911 call at Hebron Terrace Apartments on Sunday afternoon.

Officers who raced to the scene at 609 Hebron Road were approached by the suspect with a knife, the city said in a news release. In response to the threat, an officer shot the suspect, who was then transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville. The SBI is investigating the incident in accordance with standard policy when there is an officer-involved shooting. 

Because a heavy law enforcement presence remained around Hebron Terrace Apartments, the public was asked to avoid the area.
