The Hendersonville City Council may offer economic development incentives of up to $2,277,786 to attract a company seeking a site for a 140,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for production of a clean energy product, according to a public notice.
The city has been asked to consider the property tax breaks for Project Vert, which did not want to be identified for competitive reasons. The company is considering the city for a taxable capital investment of $5 million plus $95 million to equip the factory. The project would result in the creation of 378 new jobs over a three-year period, paying an average annual wage of $67,047 plus benefits, according to a legal notice published on March 22 in the Times-News.
The council will hold a public hearing on the propsal during its regular meeting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the City Operations Center, 305 Williams St. The economic development incentives would be paid over five years provided the company met the capital investment, pay rates and benefits outlined in the agreement.
