Cemetery maintenance class offers hands-on training

The Henderson County Cemetery Advisory Committee will hold a cemetery maintenance class on Saturday, April 18 at Shaw's Creek Baptist Church.

The class will be held from at 9 a.m. to noon at the church located at 91 Shaw's Creek Church Road off US 64 West, just past White Pine Drive.
Registration is requested as class size is limited, the committee said.
The class involves hands-on training on the cleaning and maintenance of gravestones. The work is wet and dirty and participants are encouraged to dress accordingly.
Gravestone conservators will teach the proper and careful methods to preserve gravestones.
Volunteers are asked to assist in cleanup and removal of debris from the recent ice storm after the class.
