Detectives investigating mail fraud going door to door

Detectives from Henderson County Sheriff’s Office are going door to door in some neighborhoods in an effort to solve a case of mail fraud.

“If you see our (Henderson County Sheriff’s Office) detectives in your neighborhood or receive a knock at your door, please know this is a legitimate law enforcement effort,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release issued Wednesday. “Our detectives will always properly identify themselves with official Henderson County Sheriff’s Office credentials when approaching members of the public.”
The sheriff’s office began an investigation into possible mail fraud recently after patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop and recovered stolen mail. Investigators believe there may be additional victims of mail fraud in the community. People who believe they may have been a victim of mail fraud or who have any information related to this investigation, are encouraged to contact the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 828-697-4911 or use the “submit a tip” feature on the Sheriff’s Office app.
