Hendersonville’s Historic Preservation Commission is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Historic Preservation Month this May with a series of free community events highlighting the people, places and stories that make Hendersonville unique.
The commission will host three events throughout the month.
On Wednesday, May 6, a Historic Plaque Unveiling at Guidon Brewing Co. will begin at 6 p.m., followed by Hendersonville History Trivia at 7 p.m. Attendees can learn about a newly recognized historic site while testing their knowledge of local history.
At 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, Hendersonville City Council will officially recognize Historic Preservation Month with a proclamation. The Historic Preservation Commission will also present its annual report highlighting accomplishments and preservation efforts from the past year.
The month concludes with the Historic Preservation Awards reception at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Honeysuckle Holler. Co-hosted by the Historic Preservation Commission and Friends of Downtown Hendersonville, the event will celebrate this year’s award recipients and recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that have supported historic preservation in the city over the past year. An RSVP is required at eventbrite.com.
