Defendant sentenced to prison for McDonald's shooting last November

Julian Reshawn Suber

A 35-year-old man will serve up to seven years, four months in prison after he pleaded guilty on Friday to felony charges stemming from a shooting at the Four Seasons Boulevard McDonald’s last November, District Attorney R. Andrew Murray announced.

Julian Reshawn Suber of Asheville pleaded guilty in Henderson County Superior Court to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

According to the investigation report, on the morning of Nov. 3, 2025, Hendersonville police officers responded to the McDonald’s at 1909 Four Seasons Blvd. in reference to reports of gunshots. The officers spoke with the victim who stated that he was in the parking lot of the McDonald's when he got into an argument with a male in a black sedan.  Surveillance footage from McDonalds showed the defendant and the victim exit their respective vehicles, which were stopped in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant, and began arguing.

Suber then returned to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm and proceeded to fire multiple shots toward the victim’s vehicle as the victim drove away, the D.A.’s office said in a news release.

Officers collected thirteen .40-caliber shell casings from the parking lot, and found nine bullet holes on the victim’s vehicle. One of the bullets crossed Four Seasons Boulevard and went through the window of the KFC on the other side of the five-lane road. The KFC was occupied at the time of the shooting. After city police issued a Be on The Lookout (BOLO) warning and a license-plate reader identified Suber's car, sheriff’s deputies arrested him at a home in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Superior Court Judge Craig Croom sentenced Suber to a minimum of 26 months and a maximum term of 44 months for the assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, to be served consecutively with a sentence of the same length for discharging a weapon into occupied property — resulting in the combined active prison sentence of at least four years, four months and up to seven years, four months.

Assistant District Attorney Doug Mundy handled the prosecution and sentencing of these crimes. Murray thanked the Hendersonville Police Department and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, who assisted the police, for their professional and thorough investigation of the case.
