No injuries reported in school bus accident

Henderson County Public Schools officials and first responders look on as students from Upward Elementary School exit their bus after it was involved in an accident Monday morning.

No one was injured Monday morning when a school bus collided with an SUV on Upward Road.

The bus from Henderson County Pubic Schools was carrying Upward Elementary School students when the accident happened at about 7:22 a.m. near Upward Christian Fellowship.
Students on the bus were expected to either continue on to school later Monday or have their parents pick them up, school officials on the scene of the accident said.
Jeff Scanlon, who lives in the area, said he was traveling in his 2008 Acura MDX on Upward Road on his way to a painting job when the bus attempted to turn left across the roadway.
“I slammed on my brakes but couldn’t avoid hitting her,” he said shortly after the accident.
First responders from Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue and Henderson County Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident along with school officials.
No injures were reported, they said.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
