'When Everyone Swims' showing supports aquatic center campaign

Support Our Swimmers, the Henderson County group advocating for an indoor aquatic center, will sponsor two screenings of the documentary When Everyone Swims on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Flat Rock Cinema, 2700-D Greenville Highway.

Shows are scheduled for 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at flatrockcinema.com.

The film explores how access to pools and safe places to swim intersects with public safety and social inequality.

Support Our Swimmers is working to build community support and funding for a facility with two indoor pools — a 50-meter competition pool and a 25-yard program pool. It envisions an aquatics center to serve lap swimmers, water exercise classes, aquatic therapy, swim lessons, canoe and kayak safety instruction, deep-water rescue training and school and masters swim teams.
