Etowah-Horse Shoe Fire & Rescue is expected to build a new station on McKinney Road more than two years after its firehouse yards from the French Broad River suffered catastrophic flood damage during Hurricane Helene.
Henderson County commissioners on Monday are expected to ratify a lease of property owned by Maddox Meadows LLC at 121, 123 and 137 McKinney Road, two parcels of land in front of Maddox Meadows RV Park. An agreement to lease the land for up to six months contains has an option to purchase the property that expires on Feb. 15. The lease covers 5 acres of land that contains a 1,170-square-foot brick house. The land is valued on the tax books at $321,300.
Congress appropriated $1.5 million for an Etowah-Horse Shoe EMS station to improve emergency response times and expand access to critical emergency medical services in a growing area of Henderson County was included in a series of spending bills that advanced in the House Appropriations Committee this year, U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards announced in June.
