Roads closing for work on French Broad bridges

MILLS RIVER — Two roads will be closed for about two months starting Monday for work on bridges that cross the French Broad River.

 

Butler Bridge Road in Mills River will be closed starting Monday, June 10, for about two months for work on the bridge over the French Broad River. The project will involve milling the existing bridge deck surfaces and replacing the surface with a latex-modified concrete overlay, the DOT said in a news release.


During the project, motorists should use the following signed detour: N.C. 280 to Fanning Bridge Road to Asheville Highway (U.S. 25) back to Butler Bridge Road.


Banner Farm Road in Horseshoe will be closed for work on thee bridge over the French Broad River. The closure is expected to remain in place for about 60 days.

During the project, motorists should use the following signed detour: Banner Farm Road to Ladson Road to N.C. 191 to South Rugby Road to U.S. 64/Brevard Road back to Banner Farm Road.
The work is part of a $538,360 project to rehabilitate three bridges in Henderson County and one bridge in Haywood County. Project contractor is Lanford Brothers Co. of Roanoke, Va.
