Mission embarks on $350 million expansion, Citizen-Times reports

Mission hospital is embarking on a major expansion that will include a $350 million tower and the possible demolition of the St. Joseph's building, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

Hospital president Jill Hoggard-Green tells the Citizen-Times's John Boyle that projections show the need for the new bed tower, just one part of the big expansion plans by the largest health care provider in the N.C. mountains. "We can't build enough hospital beds in Western North Carolina for the number of us that are going to need that care by 2020 or 2025," the hospital president said. Mission plans big expansion

The strategy will involve projects such as the Mission Pardee Health Campus, a $33 million clinic in Fletcher, a joint project with Pardee Hospital. Mission will also be "aggressive in making sure there's access to care in the region," Paulus said, referring to family practice physicians.
