First responders win grant to expand radio coverage

Fourteen area fire departments and rescue squads will benefit from a $554,360 FEMA grant to enhance radio communications from Tryon to Cedar Mountain, U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows announced Monday.

Meadows will present the check on Friday at Cedar Mountain Fire/Rescue. The fourteen area agencies that will receive the funding are:

  • Cedar Mountain Fire/Rescue, Cedar Mountain, NC, Caesar's Head/Cliff Ridge, SC.
  • Blue Ridge Fire/Rescue, Hendersonville.
  • Brevard Fire Department, Brevard.
  • Brevard Rescue Squad, Brevard.
  • Connestee Fire/Rescue, Brevard.
  • Etowah/Horse Shoe Fire/Rescue, Horse Shoe.
  • Fletcher Fire/Rescue, Fletcher.
  • Green River Fire/Rescue, Zirconia.
  • Henderson County Rescue Squad, Hendersonville.
  • Little River Fire Department, Penrose.
  • North Transylvania Fire/Rescue, Pisgah Forest.
  • Rosman Fire/Rescue, Rosman.
  • Transylvania Emergency Communications Center, Brevard.
  • Tryon Fire Department, Tryon.
