Pardee shifts psych services to Blue Ridge

Pardee Hospital shifted its outpatient mental health services to Blue Ridge Community Health Services, effective today.

The Psychiatric and Addictions Therapeutic Healing Services os PATHS clinic had been providing the services. Now they will be offered at the Blue Ridge Health clinic on U.S. 64 East.

The PATHS clinic will continue to offer inpatient psychiatric services, as well as detoxification services.

The team at Pardee is working diligently on a plan to assist patients in obtaining ongoing mental health care with the psychiatrists and staff at Blue Ridge Community Health Services in Henderson County, Pardee said in a news release.

Pardee Board of Directors Chairman Bill Moyer said the hospital leaders began to look at the PATHS service when it lost two fulltime people that ran the outpatient service. "the two people that were doing the work left for various reasons," Moyer said. "They had family situations. There was a lot of discussion about the best way to provide this and whether Blue Ridge could do it better and I think we finally took the position that it could.

"We're going to help them expand their facility," he added. "They're trying to get some help from the (regional)  mental health group. The county's going to help with that. We're optimistic and I think Blue Ridge is that this is good for them and good for the patients."

It has a pharmacy that will be able to provide drugs at a lower cost, Moyer added.
