Kenmure raises $31,500 to fight cancer

 FLAT ROCK —Kenmure Fights Cancer, a fundraising effort by the Kenmure community, presented checks for $15,311.57 each to the Pardee Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center and Park Ridge Health Cancer Services on Oct. 31. Thanks to participation in employee matching funds programs, Pardee received an additional $820 and Park Ridge an additional $50 for a total of $31,493.14 this year.


Since its inception in 2008, Kenmure Fights Cancer has raised $177,696.31 for the cancer centers. The funds are designated for equipment and technology that enhance patient care in the realm of cancer treatment.
The Kenmure Fights Cancer effort this year included golf and tennis tournaments, a garden tour, Autobell carwash coupons, special evenings at Flat Rock Playhouse Music On the Rock concerts, donations in honor and memory of those with cancer and a gala dinner at Kenmure Country Club.

Kenmure Fights Cancer Committee members were Edie Lang, Bill Johnson, Barbara Holmes, Judy Standish, Mike Farmer, Jackie Murrill, Linda Mensch, Denise Burns, Director of Oncology Park Ridge Health; Georgie Farmer, Chair Susan Bush, Betty Roemer, Eavelyn Brooks, Burt Weissman, Marian Hansen, Sue Musgrove, Jan Powell, Susan Allen, Karen Skelton.and Ambassador Quincy, the talisman and spokesdog for the organization.
