LIGHTNING PHOTOS: 1,000 pedal Fletcher Flyer

BREVARD — A thousand riders pushed off at 8 a.m. Sunday for the Fletcher Flyer, a series of bike rides that started and finished at Oskar Blues Brewery.

The course offered what local riders seldom fine — a relatively flat terrain — no big mountains to scale. Sponsored by Hunter Subaru, the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club event offered rides of 32, 50, 63 and 100 miles in eastern Transylvania and southwestern Henderson counties. Oskar Blues hosted and barbecue lunch with one free brew and music by the Reems Creek bluegrass band of Asheville,
