WEEKEND TIPOFF: Music, Dark Night Studio

Here are the weekend events:

 

The Music On Main concert on Friday features Blind Lemon Phillips. Charley Phillips provides lead vocals, with a full horn section and backup vocals, performing a variety of 1970s rock, blues, country and soul with a new twist on American roots music. The Hendersonville Antique Car Club will be showcasing their vintage and antique cars. Free. Visitors Center.

Naturalist Fred Roane leads a free nature walk at the Park at Flat Rock starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Tours, running about two hours, are offered on the first Saturday of each month. For information call 828-697-8100

North Main merchants present the Shades of Time band playing oldies on Saturday afternoon in August starting at 4:30. Free. 500 block of North Main Street.

'Gypsy' continues at the Mainstage of the Flat Rock Playhouse. Performances are 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The Monday Night Street Dance on Aug. 3 features caller Walt Puckett, Appalachian Fire and Southern Connection Cloggers. Visitors Center. Free.

Flat Rock Playhouse presents Dark Night Studio! on Monday. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the event features “dinner by the bite” from small plate food stations, a silent auction, the Dark Night Revue and live auction.
