Winery opens tasting room on Main Street

Just in time for the Apple Festival, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards has opened a tasting room at Scarlet boutique at 122 N. Main St. called Wines of the East Coast.

“I’m sure at first the thought of a wine shop in a clothing boutique may seem a bit odd but it was actually a very easy and natural pairing to work out of Scarlet as (owner Candi Guffey) is already known for her ‘sip and shop’ events," said Saint Paul’s Kandi Hendricks. "While it is a little unorthodox, it is going to make for a fun and unique experience for people perusing Main Street,”
Saint Paul owner Alan Ward says while East Coast wines are lesser known than California brands many are high quality and worth discovering.
“Alan’s vision for this location is to eventually be able to showcase wines from up and down the East Coast,” Hendricks said in an email. “The best of the best award winning wines from other small wineries like Saint Paul. We will do a limited tasting menu each day of our wines and ciders and eventually of other wines from the East Coast. We will also use this location to host small educational programs on many different wine and artisan cider related topics.”
Just in time for the North Carolina Apple Festival, the tasting room will feature its
new artisan hard ciders through Labor Day.
“All of our wines and ciders are available for purchase at the downtown location but our main focus will be on getting folks out to the winery to get the full Saint Paul experience,” Hendricks added. “If folks stop in downtown for a tasting they will receive a coupon to use at the winery.”
