Dragonfly Cafe to open in Flat Rock on New Year's Day

The Dragonfly Café is set to open on New Year’s Day, offering everything from appetizers to five different macaroni and cheese dishes.

Café owner and chef Dawn String plans to stay open until 10 p.m. in hopes of catching the post-theater crowd.
“When I was in New York you went to get a nosh after the show and not before,” she said.
The café at Flat Rock Square serves four salads ($8.95), including an Asiago and raspberry spinach salad and a bacon-blue cheese wedge salad; cream of chicken with wild rice soup and tomato basil bisque; sandwiches including roast beef ($9.95), toasted cheese on Texas toast ($7.95) and ham and brie ($9.95); and entrees, including pesto-crusted salmon ($14.95), Fettuccine Alfredo ($12.95) and spaghetti with Italian sausage. The mac’n’cheeses are: five cheese ($10.95), Lobster mac’n’cheese ($16.95), Mac’n’Cheeseburger ($13.95), bacon mac’n’cheese ($13.95) and combination of any two ($15.95).
The café does not serve beer and wine. String says she may apply for an alcohol sales permit and add those beverages by April. Located in the former White & Red Roses Café space, the Dragonfly will be open 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
