Stars pair with pros to perform for charity

Eight celebrity amateurs will pair with professional actors in the second annual Theatre with the Stars performance for charity at Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown in a matinee performance on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The community “stars” performing this year are Erica Allison of Allison Development Group, competing for Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County; Tanya Blackford for Safelight (formerly Mainstay); John Bryant of Henderson County Public Schools, for the Children & Family Resource Center; Pardee Hospital CEO Jay Kirby, for the Pardee Hospital Foundation; Lutrelle O'Cain, for the Blue Ridge Humane Society; Horizon Heating & Air Conditioning president Dan Poeta, for Vocational Solutions; Sandie Salvaggio-Walker, for Believe Child Advocacy Center; and Flat Rock Mayor Bob Staton, for The Salvation Army.
The stars are partnered with Flat Rock Playhouse favorites Steve Carlisle, Ryan Guerra, Amy Jones, Lynn Penny, Paige Posey, Brian Robinson, Scott Treadway and Dane Whitlock. The 2016 panel of judges includes McCray Benson, Dr. Scott Donaldson, Victoria Dunkle and Sheriff Charlie McDonald, the 2015 Theatre with the Stars Champion. Emcees are Mark Warwick of WTZQ and Tiffany Ervin of Elite Repeats.

Voting is now open for the stars’ charities. Visit Flat Rock Playhouse stars to watch the videos featuring the eight contestants and cast a vote by making a donation under the star’s name. The star with the most donations combined with highest judging score wins $1,000 for his or her selected charity. Online pre-voting ends at midnight on Feb. 19. Those who wish to vote in person can cast their votes at the Playhouse Downtown on 125 South Main Street.
A preshow reception will take place in the Playhouse Downtown lobby beginning at 2 p.m. followed by the 3 p.m. performance. The Chef’s Kitchen at Ingles will cater and Flowers by Larry will present the floral arrangements. Tickets are $50, which includes food, performance and reserved seating. There will also be a cash bar. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Playhouse box office at 828-693-0731 or toll-free at 866-732-8008.
