Foundation awards grant to spay-neuter nonprofit

Mary Cervini accepts a check from Community Foundation President McCray Benson.

Community Partnership for Pets Inc. founders Mike and Mary Cervini thanked the Community Foundation of Henderson County and the Barry E. Clemo Animal Care Field of Interest Fund for a grant in the amount of $12,653.22.

This grant will be used to fund spay/neuter programs for pets belonging to Henderson County residents.
"With 25,103 spay/neuter surgeries completed since 2005, the number of animals entering the County Shelter is down 52 percent and euthanasia is down 78 percent," Mary Cervini said. "Everyone in our community has been an important part in saving as many lives as possible through spay/neuter. While spay/neuter is not the glamorous part of animal welfare, it is nevertheless a key piece in making sure fewer animals are born to face an uncertain future."
