SNOWFALL TO REACH 4-6 INCHES, FORECASTERS SAY

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Friday night and predicted snow accumulation of 4-6 inches as a cold front barreled toward the North Carolina mountains.

The weather service office in Greer, S.C., issued the storm warning for 7 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday. Rain was expected to change to a mix of sleet and snow and then snow from Friday night through Saturday morning, forecasters said. The 4-6 inches of snow in the first winter storm of the season could make roads impassable and cause widespread power outages, the weather service said.
