Big Brothers Big Sisters adds program coordinator

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Henderson County has hired Jennifer McKinley as its new program coordinator.

McKinley has a bachelor’s degree in management from St. Mary’s College of California and brings 17 years of service in human resources to the agency.
McKinley’s duties at BBBS will include intake of volunteers and children/parents in the school-based program that matches mentors with students in grades 1-3 at certain Henderson County elementary schools. She will also be providing match support/supervision to all parties in both the school-based program and the community-based program.
McKinley will be joining Steve Kirkland, who is shifting to the role of Outreach Coordinator and focusing on marketing/recruitment, partnership development and fundraising.
BBBS of Henderson County is part of BBBS of Western North Carolina which is the oldest and largest mentoring program in WNC. BBBS of WNC is an affiliate of BBBS of America and serves 10 counties in WNC. The agency provides positive adult role models to youth from single-parent families or youth who face adversity. Having a mentor provide one-on-one time and attention and can help the young person have higher aspirations, improve in school performance, and improve relationships/social skills.
