Woman convicted in death of man thrown from vehicle

A 21-year-old woman was sentenced to 13½ years in prison after a jury convicted her of second degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Deque Taylor, who died after being thrown from a vehicle on Ninth Avenue West in December 2015.

Savannah Walker was convicted after a four-day trial. Shawn Hollifield is also charged with murder in the death of Taylor.

In other cases:

  • Deshawn Perry, of 21 Enchanted Lane, Fletcher, was found guilty by a jury of his peers of Common Law Robbery and Resisting Public Officer. Perry was sentenced to 92 months in prison.
  • Liberty Ellis, of 207 Tioga Trail, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to Attempted Trafficking of Opium. Ellis was sentenced to 78 months in prison.
  • James Aiken, of 772 Holbert Road, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to 16 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. Aiken was sentenced to 48 months in prison.
  • Adrian Branch, of 208 Oak Street, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to Possession of Firearm by Felon and Possession of Heroin. Branch was sentenced to 27 months in prison.
  • Theodore Gray, of 150 Wilmont Drive, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to three counts of Possession of Cocaine, Resisting Public Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Gray was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
  • Anthony Moore, of 116 Adeles Way, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to Assault by Strangulation, Assault Inflicting Serious Injury, Assault on a Female, and Assault with a Minor Present. Moore was sentenced to 19 months in prison.
  • Zachary Giles, of 202 Shorty Collins Road, East Flat Rock, was found guilty by a jury of his peers of Obtaining Property by False Pretense. He also pled guilty to Larceny. Giles was sentenced to 90 days confinement and 24 months supervised probation.
  • William York, of 550 Gilreath Loop Road, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to Assault on a Female. York was sentenced to 75 days confinement.
  • Marvin Williams, of 1820 North Clear Creek Road, Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to two counts of Possession of Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Williams was sentenced to 30 days confinement and 24 months supervised probation.
